Disassembly - Part 4 - Rear Suspension

9/4/2006

As part of removing the engine and transmission, I went ahead and removed the rear suspension so that it would make it easier to pull the engine out from under the car.  It all came out really well.  I had three shim plates on each side.  I think there was two thin ones and a thicker one.  Thicker one in the middle.  I need to measure those before I bag them up.  No photos yet, but I will do that as I disassemble the suspension.  At the moment it is apart enough just to pull off the car.

Issues I noticed was that at least one bearing seems to be worn as I can move the stub axel around.  Each side seems to have a different shock.  :)   The suspension ear on the right side is rusted and cracked.  It will need to be replaced.  The left side looks OK at this point.  After I "dip" the car, I will look to see if there are any hidden cracks.
