Ok, removal of the wring harness goes pretty much as follows...

  1. Passenger front side marker and headlight (ground screw in bucket)
  2. Horn and other stuff near front bumper
  3. Driver front side marker and headlight (ground screw in bucket)
  4. Snake what you have so far through fuel tank bulkhead
  5. Remove connectors for fuel tank sender and ventilation fan.
  6. Snake what you have so far through front passenger bulkhead.
  7. Remove all dash related connections (ground screw near fuse box)
  8. Deal with various connectors in passenger area (seat belt, E-brake lever, etc.) by snaking into center tunnel as needed.
  9. Move to rear of car
  10. Passenger tail lights
  11. Driver tail lights
  12. Snake what you have so far into engine compartment
  13. Remove plug for engine circuit board (ground screw in this area)
  14. Snake through engine shelf
  15. Snake through engine bulkhead
  16. Snake through center tunnel until you reach front of car.
  17. You are done.

This was actually taken when I was removing the shift linkage, but it belongs here as it was the connector for the heater level on center tunnel.

Passenger headlight bucket.  Note..

bulletPlastic connector for headlight.  Mine were pretty deteriorated.
bulletRubber grommet for harness.

Driver headlight bucket.  Same issues as above.

Passenger headlight motor wiring.

Driver headlight motor wiring.  Note that I had to cut off the ground strap bolt

Driver side marker lights.  This is the fender that was torn up by the PO.

Passenger side marker lights.  Note rubber boot and grommet.

harness snaking under passenger side headlight bucket.  Note..

bulletgrommet going into bumper area.
bulletHow harness is snaked under bucket.

Traveling from passenger to driver side.

Note red wire that was used by PO to replace some burnt wire that was for the driver side marker lights.

Fuel sender, master cylinder sensor, ventilation fan wires and wiper motor.

These switches are a pain to snake out of their position, but it is possible.

Dash already out and harness connected to front bulkhead near fuse box area.

Detail showing both the connection near fuse box area.

Note various wires for seat belts, e-brake, etc.

Note special grommet/boot that goes from firewall to engine shelf.

Negative battery cable.

Engine circuit board.  Note ground bolt just above circuit board.

Trunk light

My harness was already loose in the trunk as I had removed the tail lights ages ago.  PO also hacked it up pretty well to fix what I assume was a break in a wire. I will have to perform some major surgery to get this back together correctly.

Out of sequence, but I had forgot to take photo of front bumper.

More front bumper

Ventilation fan connector

Celebrating the big moment of getting the harness out.  I had some Champaign left over from New Years.  I figured it was as good of time to drink some as any.  No, I didn't drink the entire bottle.
